Back to Oaxaca

It appears that setting my novella, “The Third Death of the Little Clay Dog” in Oaxaca has attracted the attention of the local film and lit competition, so they’ve asked me to do a little promotion for them and that seems fine to me. So here’s the info:

The Oaxaca International Independent Film and Video Festival is also hosting an International Writing Competiton this year. Entries are limited to the first 1000 and can be in Spanish or English, in any genre, short stories only. Prizes will be awarded to the top five entries in each language. And the top prizes are pretty generous. The Film Festival is also pretty cool, so if you’re a film-maker or a writer, check this out. (Link is to English info, but, plainly, it’s also available in Spanish.)

The competition is the weekend after the annual Day of the Dead festival, for which Oaxaca is famous. I would love to go to Oaxaca in person, having been in no position to do my research “on the ground” at the time I was writing the novella, but I suspect I’ll be revising Book 6 about then (early November), so if any of you go, be sure to send me pics!
