Recently finished The Serpent’s Shadow by Mercedes Lackey–was highly recommended as an unusual and charming treatment of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs but set in Edwardian England with a magic-using half-Indian doctor in the Snow White role. Interesting. Often very good, though the villian left me rather underwhelmed.

It’s gone! Hurray! I finally finished off the copyedit and front/back matter and stuffed it in a box and sent it to New York!
Now, if I can just get this stuff for Left Coast Crime coordinated and off my shoulders, I’ll be a happy camper.
Somewhere along the way, being competent and creative has become [...]
Dumb-Ass of the Week

My dear friend Jeff has initiated tales of the Dumb-Ass of the Week. As a professional tow-truck driver he’s seen more than his share and he’s pretty funny, so check it out.
Copyedit Ahoy!

I received the copyedits for Poltergeist today. They are due back by February 1. I usually dread copyedits because this is the stage where I feel the stupidest. I was never a good copyeditor myself–it’s a very specialized and demanding job for people with infinite patience and more than a touch of [...]
Saved!

Ah, the power of friends. The Vancouver trip has been saved by the intervention of Richelle Mead and Caitlin Kittredge. (So long as Richelle gets over the icky-sick bug she seems to have caught–I’m beaming all my “feel better” thoughts her way and not just out of selfishness, ’cause I hate being sick [...]
Travel Plans Interrupted….

And I’ve been busily updating the Appearances page at the main site with info on LCC and the upcoming signing in Surrey, BC on the 20th of this month. Busy, busy, busy….

More bad book covers
Posted in Cool writerly people, Just Plain Weird on January 2, 2007 | Comments Off
Richelle Mead–whose book I’m currently reading in between bouts of hangover–sent me a link to Longmire does Romance Novels, in response to the previous post of bad book covers. Hehehe…. I’m going to have to do something bad to Richelle for this… nothing quite like giggling myself into fits with a migrane headache [...]
Stainless Steel Droppings

I get all silly over the darnedest things. The owner of blog Stainless Steel Droppings said nice things about the book. I know… I’m such a goon….
